Help please!!!!! about social studies?

Because all lines of latitude are parallel to each other if you look at a map they exactly are in the direction of west to east. Also latitude has the equator as a natural starting position. longitude does not have such a thing and it does not go from north to south if you look at a map it is actually curved and that is the answer to you're question, hope i was able to help.
