Why are people protesting to free Tibet? What is going on? Sorry I dont keep up with the news.?

China invaded Tibet in the 1950's and since in my opinion illegally occupied it . The Dalai Lama was made an exile not long after but has always supported peaceful means of protest while the Chinese have have beaten and killed protesters in Tibet and suppressed the media.The Chinese should do the right thing and leave the argument that it is a part of China is a dead end as the Tibetan people consider themselves a separate culture and did not call to be" liberated". It is a mark of what a good man The Dalai Lama is in supporting China to host the Olympic Games even with there dreadful track record when it comes to Human Rights.
