Braces and Bonding?

So I finally got braces on today, and the dentist put some bonding on two of my lower teeth (not to repair anything, but to relieve the pressure on my jaw from TMJ, I guess). The bonding makes these two teeth a lot taller than any of my other lower teeth. Its really awkward and the two bonded teeth and the upper teeth THEY touch are the only teeth in my mouth that come together. When I try to chew with my back teeth the newly bonded lower teeth click against my upper teeth, so as of now, its impossible to eat. I'm not against losing weight, but I guess my main question is: has anyone ever had this kind of procedure done? And if so, how long did it take to get used to it? It sucks....
